The transformer station at the Richardstraße, completed in 1928, is one with others that stand on the banks of the Neukölln canal. The architect, Hans Heinrich Müller, was the master of the Berlin transformer stations in the 1920s. This excellent example of industrial architecture emulates a transformer with it long lines geometry, perfectly proportionated. The long windows light the spaces emulating a cathedral and the spacious rooms provide an ideal atelier-atmosphere. The building is listed as monument and has a preservation order. The restoration aims to take advantage of the wide spaces, every floor is divided in two rooms connected to each other and each one lead to a staircase. The intervention wants to remark the industrial character of the building maintaining as much as possible and concentrating the new services inside independent boxes.
